Rain Radar Plus Australia offers real-time radar data sourced from the Australian Bureau of Meteorology (BOM), providing users with up-to-date information on rainfall and wind patterns across Australia. The application supports full-screen display and landscape orientation, with intuitive pinch and pan zoom functionality, allowing for seamless navigation. Users can customize their experience via a favourites list, GPS location detection, and a list of nearby radars.

The interface is designed for quick access, allowing users to select their preferred radar view—be it the last viewed, a favourite, or the nearest radar—without the need for multiple taps. Radar animations are displayed prominently in full screen, with a simple tap to toggle controls visibility. Double tap gestures facilitate zooming in and out, complemented by standard pinch and pan gestures for detailed exploration.

The app dynamically updates the list of available radars and ranges as new data becomes accessible, eliminating the need for manual updates. It also offers optional real-time positioning markers when location services are enabled.

Users can choose from various radar ranges—including 64 km, 128 km, 256 km, 512 km, and doppler wind—and overlay additional observation data such as wind speed, wind direction, and rainfall since 9 am. All overlays are independently toggleable, providing a customizable viewing experience. Additional map layers encompass locations, administrative boundaries, transportation networks, catchment areas, water bodies, and topography.

The application displays consolidated national radar and satellite imagery, leveraging cached static images for swift loading and efficient operation. All screens support landscape mode for user convenience.

It is important to note that while Rain Radar Plus Australia retrieves data directly from the BOM, it maintains no official affiliation with the bureau. The app functions solely as an interface that accesses publicly available BOM data without embedding or hosting any proprietary information.
